STEFANO CANZIANI: ArtBasiC x Cavagnis Lacerenza

8 - 12 March 2023
"The basic concept, which I would like to keep as a common thread among the works presented, is the contrast between the classical and post-modern elements." (Stefano Canziani)

Cavagnis Lacerenza and ArtBasiC are pleased to present their first collaborative project focusing on the work of Stefano Canziani, in dialogue with Ancient Classical Art and Old Master Sculpture.

The aim of this collaboration is to show the many happy combinations that ancient art can create with contemporary art, and more specifically through the eyes of emerging talents.

Stefano Canziani (Gallarate 1988) is an architect by profession and an artist by passion. His interest in drawing first and then in architectural drawing later, led him to develop a creative activity alongside his work, which over time has turned into something more.

Stefano's creations are futuristic, but they speak of buildings that exist and are reinvented in his creations into something extravagant and grand. His colour palette is strong, but never disturbing, his re-invented buildings imposing, but never scary. There is great balance in Stefano's work, a legacy of his training as an architect that blends perfectly with his creative mind.

For our collaboration, ArtBasiC therefore selected two pieces from Cavagnis Lacerenza’s collection, which Stefano has carefully studied, elaborated and integrated with a view to placing them in a post-modern context, recognisable but not totally identifiable. The two artworks are presented here exclusively side by side with the original pieces.
